Info

Zero-G Beauty is a cosmetic brand that brings the issue of space debris into everyday beauty rituals.

Space debris refers to the inactive satellites, fragments, and human-made objects left orbiting the Earth. Although it poses growing risks to satellites, communication systems, and future space missions, it remains distant from public attention. For most people, space feels too far away to be personal.

Zero-G Beauty responds to this distance by using makeup as an unexpected point of entry. Built around the idea of “A Touch of Makeup, A Touch on Space,” the project imagines a beauty system where each purchase contributes to space cleanup through reusable packaging and renewable materials.

The brand is designed as a gift shop product for the American Museum of Natural History’s Hayden Planetarium in New York. By placing the product within a museum retail context, the project turns a familiar purchase into a quiet invitation to care about what happens beyond Earth.

The lipstick shades extend the brand narrative through names connected to space history, communication, and debris. Hi Valentina refers to Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman to travel to space. Losing Signal speaks to the fragility of satellite communication and the invisible systems we rely on every day. Satellite Debris directly names the issue at the heart of the project, bringing the overlooked remains of space exploration into a personal beauty object.

Rather than following the soft and polished language often associated with beauty packaging, Zero-G Beauty draws from aerospace technology, satellite communication, and speculative futures. Metallic textures, dark surfaces, cold blue typography, sharp forms, and orbital details create a cosmetic identity that feels technical, atmospheric, and unfamiliar.

Zero-G Beauty received Core77 Design Awards 2025 — Student Notable Honoree in Packaging and Hiiibrand Design Awards 2025 — Merit Award in Packaging.
